Defence Minister`s Meeting with His Georgian Counterpart, Irakli Alasania

The official meeting took place in Brussels, on the occasion of NATO Defence Ministers and ISAF partner countries meeting.

Mircea Dusa told his counterpart that Romania appreciates the progress made by Georgia in its defence reforms. The operational effort it made within ISAF placed this country among the ones with the highest contributions to ISAF.

As to the regional security environment, the Romanian defence minister pointed out the importance of the developments in the extended region of the Black Sea that should continue to be a cooperation area in functional and pragmatic terms.

Another topic on the agenda of the two ministers was the initiation of instruction and training programs. In this respect, Mircea Dusa stated that this should increase military bilateral cooperation between the two countries.

Romania will continue to support Georgia`s defence reforms, sharing its experience from its own NATO integration process. In this respect, the defence minister saluted the project to develop common education programs in the field of military education strategies and policies.
